Hi I'm Auntie Debbie

Recently, my 16-year-old nephew Raquan, who has a Saturday job with us, asked me if I could help by driving him to an orphanage in Mandeville, Jamaica.  He wanted to buy some water and tin foods to give to the orphanage. I witnessed him take all his wages to buy the items. I was blown away when I saw how effortlessly he took his pay and bought items for strangers, it made me question myself as to what was I doing to make a difference?

I followed his lead and also purchased well-needed items to deliver alongside him and a few others to the group of abused and homeless children at Windsor Lodge Children's Home. Currently, 51 children reside there from 3 to 19 years old.

We were fortunate to spend a few hours bonding, talking, and getting to know some of them. When we left it broke my heart to leave them; I just wanted to bring them all home with me. What do you say to a child about hope when you can't do more for them? Children should never have to look so sad. I want to do my best to touch their lives in a positive way and follow this amazing selfless young man's dream.

Their biggest need right now is the need for a water tank and pump to store rainwater.  They need so much love and help. If you have clothes, gadgets, books anything. Let's talk. They need us.

*Please note - Our Company Turner Innovations Ltd. is the registered parent company for Change A Life with Raquan, as he is unable to register at the age of 16.

About

16-year-old Raquan Turner recently graduated from Munro College and is currently a student S.T.E.T.H.S studying Real Estate Investing and Architecture.  His parents run a mini-market shop where he grew up.  Opposite the shop, a homeless man would come every day and sit on the bench.  At age 6 Raquan would take his snacks and share them with him.  When he saw how grateful the man was it made him feel good that he could help someone just by being kind.  From then he vowed to always try to help others less fortunate than him and make a positive effect in the world. Now with the support of his aunt, he is on a mission to build a professional platform and create opportunities to change lives globally.

Something about giving to the unfortunate makes me feel really proud of myself and I won’t stop giving back whether I have enough, insufficient, limited, etc. I will continue to give back as much as I can. Raquan Turner
